Mazda Series 6 RX7 owned by Kim Ledger.

Started out life as a clean shell with the intention to race in the competitive Streetcar category at Barbagallo Raceway. Completely custom built throughout featuring LFP Rollover protection.

The car runs a fuel injected, 13B single roller turbo-charged motor with bridgeports and other reliability enhancing internal features. It’s fitted and tuned with a Microtech EFI system. It’s a high torque motor with 400hp at the tyres and a 7500rpm redline. Cooling is taken care of with a custom LFP intercooler, alloy radiator and oil cooler all of which are front mounted. The fuel requirements are handled by a custom LFP no surge alloy fuel tank and pump setup.

The car has an internal mounted pedal set with recessed remote brake and clutch fluid supply units. The braking system features Girling cylinders feeding AP Racing 6 pot calipers and rotors up front and Harrop 4 pot calipers and rotors on the rear.

The car initially ran Bilstein but for the last two years has run Ohlins shock absorbers with Eibach springs and Mazda sway bars. Mazdaspeed bushings are used in all moving suspension parts. The driveline features a 5 speed Pfitzner Performance (PPG) straight cut dog engagement gearbox built by LFP and a 3.9:1 Mazda rear end with coolers and spool set.

The car has completely dominated Streetcar racing in Western Australia for the last 6 years and in the capable hands of Kerry Wade, has been unbeatable. It also holds the streetcar lap record of 1:01:0151 (set on 18th June 2006).

2010 sees Steve Jones competing with this car in ‘Sports Sedans’ at Barbagallo Raceway.
